Hey all,

Just picked up my first nitro rc. Losi LST XXL...
I guess this is the forum to be part of.

I'm from Australia Melbourne.
Wanted to buy a basher and after hours of searching I decided to go with a Losi.

I have always had some sort of rc cars in the past.
Started with a Tamiya Hornet ( over 10 years ago ) then it was onto some Kyosho mini z ( 7 years ago ) with fet upgrade super fast for some thing tiny....
About 4 years ago I got into some rc drifting with electric Hpi cars.

Nice to meet you all

Hi mate, from what I've found on the forums you and I must be the only Victorians or even Australians with the XXL. I use the Hobbyman in Dandenong and The RCGarage for things I need quickly but I've found that http://www.amainhobbies.com in the US seems to be 1/2 the price of all Australian Hobby retailers including the big names like RCHobbies in Sydney! Sorry Arco, I have had a good look at Overdrive but when putting my first order through amain had everything I wanted in stock and I don't like waiting too much for back orders. Anyway, I put my order in on Monday the 19th and today using the tracking tool attached to the site it told me that my parcell has arrived in Australia today and has cleared customs at 12.23pm, so I will be waiting over the week end and should see my goods on Monday, pritty quick thats only a seven day turn around and from buying from the US I saved $110 inc delivery off the order as opposed to RcHobbies here in oz.
Good Luck with your new truck, I've been havin a ball with mine and after 2 1/2 months I think I'll have it running pritty sweet after Monday when I put on the much lighter 7" Moab Xl wheels/tires and do my Forward Only Conversion with the gear flip.

Ps. Count the teeth on your clutchbell and make sure your running the 19/26t as my XXL for some reason only had a the 18/25t!!!!
and you'll find that almost all LST/LST2 parts will fit the XXL and the losa3503 (I think) 8buggy HD diff Outdrive Cups are the only way to go, havn't broken one yet, tough as nails, I worked this out after breaking about half a dozen of the stock cups.

P.P.s "Arco" I'll give you my next order, just keep the advise comming I really appreciate it.

Yep I'll be heading to hobbyman tomorrow to pick up some fuel and start the truck up for the first time.

That's cool... :? ... But I do feel that when it comes to Losi 1/8 scale vehicles we always have 99% of the "worthy" parts in stock, it's what we specialize in and all we really sell.
Remember that we are new and can only grow with the help of our consumers, please let us know if we are missing any quality stuff on our site.
Thanks for being open and hope to earn your next order. :)

P.S. PM me if you have any questions on Duties.

hi egitr, im from central vic, near Ballarat/Bendigo, thats why I have to do most of my shopping online. Yes they are the HD outdrives to use, and I'd suggest picking up a Motor Saver Air filter, I put one on mine and it helped alot. Im still only a few months into this hobby and learning more every time I drive the truck, this site has taught me everything, I spend hours on here reading, If there is ever anything I think I might try, I'll get on here and 99% of the time someone has tried it and posted the results, saves alot of hassels.

Thanks Arco, I'll have a more depth look next time, I got the "Tech 5" rims with the Moab Xl's and I couldn't find them at Overdrive, Im going to build a 2nd tranny soon and I know I can rely on you guys having all the parts I need, ordering when cashed up again.

I clicked on your caravan site and figured you weren't around from the S.E Subs
Thanks again for the info, another item added to my wish list.
There's a fair bit of stuff I'm looking at buying from Overdrive at this stage.
Can you also tell me which glow plug to get, thinking about stocking up on them.
Been reading and there are long and short types what length is best suited for the 454 engine?
Didn't really get am answer using the search function.

thanks again!!! :D :D :D

Yep everyone is super nice.

Is the pull start suppose to be tough to pull with/without petrol?
I find it looser when i take out the glow plug. Can someone tell me if this is how its suppose to be like.
Spent a while trying to start it for the first time without any luck.
Very frustrated!!!

I would suggest only using the pull start for lubricating the motor when putting in after run oil. I've had to replace my pull start already and I had never even started the motor with it, just some tool from a hobby shop tugged away on it. I only use the spin start, easier and less breakage, have fun with the break in and I hope the weather holds out, You'll need to put about 8-9 tanks through b4 she settles down.

Im still learning that myself, some days I think I've got it down pat and others I have to reset back to factory and start again but lately
I like to run mine a tad rich and the temp still stays around 125-130 degrees celcius thats giving it a far bit of stick over 30-50meter runs around the dirt hills and over jumps. When doing a few WOT runs or speed runs I find that she's still gets up around 130-145 degree celcius after two or three 100-150 meter runs even if I richen it up so much that it runs like a three legged dog. Anyone can jump in and help me with some tips if Im doing somthing wrong!!
Sorry for the delay but yes the OS #8 is the plug I use also.

In the operations guide under tuning it says to only move the needle in 1 hour increments.
Does it really matter or can I just keep adjusting it as i see fit?
Cos an hour per change is a long time to wait.

LOL i got my car running up to 101 Celsius and freaked out thinking it was way to hot.
I forgot what it said in the guide

Gonna have so many more stupid moments with this hobby :D :D

dude, it just means to make your adjustments very small turns at a time, you dont want to go 1/2 turns or full turns, just 1 hour turn as if its the face of a clock. When you got her running at 100 degree's is that driving in ovals/firure eights or idle?

Yeah for some reason I thought it meant 1 hour intervals per adjustments
I guess still excited about playing and didn't read it properly.

I just had it running up and down the oval for a bit. ( about 2-3 minutes )
But after much reading today I think I'm gonna try to tune it again when i have time this week.
The engine still needs more fuel run through it to be fully loose from what I've read.

I prefer a 1/2" offset wheel on the LST, but we got the Tech 5 coming for you guys that may want to run a zero offset.
Pro Line discontinued production of the Moab XL tire some time ago.
If you need a hand with your next order, don't hesitate to contact us, thanks. :)

when you say your only getting 20 meters, can you still drive it beyond that? are you just watching the screen or does the failsafe kick in and the truck come to a stop? make sure the radio gear is all plugged in correctly, my rpm sensor was plugged in the wrong way when I got mine so open up the plastic box and make sure everything is plugged in the way it's suposed to be.

Hey all

Spent 2 hours yesterday trying to tune my engine.
Man is it hard to get right.
I cant seem to get a operating temp it just keeps going up and up. I shut it off when it gets to about 140-150 degrees Celsius.
For some reason the car starts rolling forward on idle, then it start to really pick up speed. ( it will idle at 20kph )
