Why another forum??

A brief disscussion of the purpose and history of this site along with some long term goals.

Why another forum??

PostAuthor: 2DMaxLST on Wed Aug 02, 2006 10:25 am

I have been a member of several forums. I always have been frustrated (as a software developer) at the lack of evolution and enhancement. I want total control and the ability to fix bugs myself and ensure very fast response times and page loads. I want to develop relationships with vendors that will enhance the LST user experience.

u know this might be a bit late, but since i have joined i have learned alot from here and at some point hope to know th works good enough to start helping others. but so far i have been amazed as the biggest fight i have sceen was in one of my threads abot how to break in the engine, and even there there wasnt anything disrespectful, just different opinions and support for the opinions. great site :D

Forum Observations from a lurker

PostAuthor: Tinker on Tue Jan 16, 2007 8:30 pm

This is an excellent forum in both design and content as far as I'm concerned. Folks are helpful and flaming is non existent, or at least in fun. Excellent patience when same questions are asked again and again. From my experience lurking, 2 cans of worms. 1. Engine break in procedures and 2. I haven't seen a "big discussion" occur here yet over oil % in fuel. Can or should one run airplane fuel in a car? All in all a fun and informative place to be. Keep up the good work.

I've also really benefited from the forum, & have tweaked & mod'd my LST2 in ways that I never would've come up with on my own. The tips are great, the library is helpful, & there's always someone who's had the same teething problems before you, so you can learn...

Great forum! :D

This forum has great organization, its easy to find topics related to your specific model. Other sites are just all over the place and its hard to navigate to topics you maybe interested in.

Great site!

I think this forum has an advantage b/c its mainly talking about LST's and not trying to compare other MT's to other ones...I think if someone comes to this site they already know what they want or what they are going to get...Lots of other sites ppl are always bashing other trucks and trying to decide which one is the "best" Even tho everyone gives revo owners a hard time(lol)

Ithink everyone here is so respectful because of how they are recieved when they get here. if you get attitude your going to give it back. here you never get it so you dont have to give it back. just a totally positive experience. i havent seen one intro where 2D and sublime hasnt welcomed the noob. awesome job!!!

Being new to the whole nitro thing, it was great to find a place like this. I was on the fence about getting a Savage 4.6, or an Aftershock. After being on this site and absorbing all of this useful information, I decided that I might as well go for broke. So now I sit and wait for my Lst2 to come in any day now(It's KILLING ME!!!). It's a small pleasure to come here everyday and see what's happening. 2D, a site is only as good as the people that are on it. You are to be commended.

there are lots of things that i like about this forum that others don't have that i don't remember right now, but one thing that i like is that there is an off-topic forum here, one person was talking about iphones! i think that that's pretty neat

So far, I think this site is very informative and the users seem knowledgeable and know their stuff. One thing that I have noticed is having to have posts approved by a moderator. I understand the new-user thing, but does it normally take a whole day to get posts approved? Does EVERY post have to be approved or does someone have to pass a "probationary" period to not have that issue? I came to this form as I'm an avid LST2 owner/fan and would like to post questions and stuff but I dont really want to wait days to find out what people have to say. I'm not complaining, moreso just need some clarification. So far I love the site and I think the Mods and Admins have done a great job with the layout, organization, and weeding out the RCU-like misfits.

Got the post approval thing figured out. Has there been a spam problem here before?

I think you might only need mod approval to start a new thread, not just to post to an existing thread. And believe me, anything you can possibly think of? It's already in here somewhere, you just have to search for it. There's almost never a reason to initiate a new thread. Took me while to learn that from the old heads on this site, but they were right! Welcome and have fun... 8-)

The approval thing is a countermeasure for spam.... It's a one time thing... so once you make at least one post, and it's approved by the mods... then you shouldn't have any worries...

I do apologize, if I don't catch it quickly... They are sometimes hard to see...

No biggie - I sent a PM to SublimeJason (figured he'd get to it sooner based on is 10000 some posts) and he hooked me up. I kept checking back and nothing had gone through and I was thinking to myself - what the heck? big huge LST forum and they dont want another one? naah.. cant be.. everyone's just busy.. Its all good now..
